Fort Larned Unified School District is a community of learners dedicated to the creation of an environment where children can be successful. In a time of tension, conflict, and sweeping change, Fort Larned was established to protect U.S. interests on the Santa Fe Trail. Here, the United States sought both war and peace with Plains Indians as each grappled for control of the vast Kansas prairies.  Experience Fort Larned, the best-preserved and best-restored frontier fort in the nation.

The Santa Fe Trail Center is a unique educational institution devoted to the interpretation of the historic transportation route known as the Santa Fe Trail. This regional museum and library preserves artifacts and manuscripts related to the blending of the major cultures along the Trail and enhances understanding of the continued development of the Trail. Interrelated interpretive exhibits, learning programs, and resource materials engage and enlighten a diverse public of varied ages, backgrounds, and knowledge, compelling them to examine their perception of the past.

The 9-hole “Larned” course at the Larned Country Club facility in Larned, Kansas features 2,747 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35 . The course rating is 33.9 and it has a slope rating of 106.  Larned golf course opened in 1950.

A cinema treasure!   The State Theatre originally opened in the late-1940′s.  After being closed for two years, the old cinema reopened in early July 2002 with a theater full of volunteers running the show. The theater was recently renovated and its famous neon marquee is a showcase for new releases.
